RESUMO

Francisco-Javier Robles y Julen Castellano

The aim of this study was to analyze the possession ball of the Spanish team, in particular the use of the pass and its comparison with rival teams he faced. For this, 13 matches were observed and coded (six from Euro'08 and seven from World Cup'10) from an ad hoc taxonomy system previously defined. Later, was implemented a discriminant analysis and coordinates polar analysis were performed of the pass category. The results showed that Spanish team didn’t deploy the offensive game in the same way: 1) actived more strongly the behaviours: pass, driving and end of the game with change of zone; 2) didn’t active the presence of the behaviours: goalkeeper saves, offside and fouls. The application of this study opens new ways to be applicable in the training process and to can improve the performance in teams that choose this style of game.
