the purpose of this study was to analyses the effects of Jacobson’s Progressive Relaxation on lactate production and reduction and performance measured through 800 meter running effort. The sample was composed by 12 Futsal player’s, age average 18,16 years that were submitted to three different data collection with the variables measured in different recovery process: 1.- active recovery (10’) + Progressive relaxation (20’); 2.- active recovery (10’) + passive recovery (20’) and 3.- Passive recovery (30’). The results depicts significant statistical difference in the lactate reduction (p<0,05) with Progressive relaxation, compared to the two other kinds of recovery process(p<0,05). Related to that, performance improvement was revealed with relaxation (p<0,05). It can be suggested that the application of progressive relaxation technique can reduce blood lactate levels after maximum effort, contributing to the reestablishment of psychophysiological state of the body, resulting in the athletic performance improvement.
