Sleeping well is very important for everybody. For the sportsmen, in particular, sleep is a physiological aspect of decisive influence on recovery from fatigue, to perform tasks that require a good state of alert, and learning motor tasks. The aim of the present study is to know the daily average length of sleep for young athletes and its variability according to demographic variables of sport performance, and lifestyles. This is a descriptive study. The data were collected through interviews conducted with 481 athletes, men and women, between 9 and 26 years, with different sports. Young athletes do not always take beneficial sleep habits for a demanding sports practice effort and high cognitive requirements. Balance time with many other daily tasks can be the cause.
