PROSOCIAL BEHAVIOUR IN SPORTS AND PHYSICAL ACTIVITY: A SYSTEMATIC REVIEW

RESUMO

Manuel Mart-Vilar, Francisco Gonz¡lez-Sala, Alberto J. Domnguez

The aim of the following paper is to observe the existing relationship and influence between sports practicing and prosocial behaviour through a systematic literature review published from 1900 to 2018 using databases such as Web of Science, Scopus, Dialnet, Research gate and PubMed, checking a total of 57 studies. Predictors found are sociodemographic, contextual and intervening factors; taking into special consideration the motivational climate of involvement to the task and the style of the coach in support of autonomy in a greater appearance of prosocial behaviour in the sporting context. These results provide tools to create intervention programmes in order to favour prosocial behaviour and to decrease antisocial behaviour; and they show that social context is the most important variable in the direction of moral behaviours and on which more sports psychologists should work, considering these influential variables in the design of sports programmes.
