RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN CREATIVE THINKING AND EXERCISE IN ADULTS

The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between the amount of physical exercise and type of exercise that makes a person narrative creativity. Participants in the study were 40 adults in the city of Malaga (Spain), aged between 22 and 55 years (M = 32.95, SD = 9.07). The amount of physical activity was measured by the World Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ) and the Test of Creative Imagination (PIC-A) was used to evaluate the narrative creativity. The obtained data were evaluated with SPSS v18.0. The correlation analysis and linear regression carried out revealed relationships between variables of physical exercise and creativity being the most significant vigorous exercise (r² = 0.56, p < .001). In conclusion both vigorous exercise, such as the total amount exercise were positively correlated with higher rates of narrative creativity.
