The aim of this study was to identify the relation between mood states of injured soccer players and the implication of pain, caused by the injury process, on their everyday life. The sample was composed by 14 male athletes, mean age of 18,7 years old (-15+23). All of them presented injuries and pain complains caused by sports practice. The mood states were evaluated using the Profile of Mood State (POMS) translated to Portuguese by Peluso (2003). To evaluate the perception of the implication of pain on athletes’ everyday activities, the item “Impact of pain on the patient’s life” from McGill Pain Questionnaire (Brazilian version) validated by Castrates (1999) was used. The data had been treated by descriptive statistics (mean, frequency and standard deviation) and by inference (ANOVA). Half of the athletes presented light injuries or were in the end of the recovery process. Thus, it has not been verified alteration on mood state and prejudice on these athletes everyday life, except prejudice on work. Although inferential statistics had not demonstrated significant results, the qualitative analyzes of the data allowed to conclude that the athletes who were kept out of practice for a few days and had prejudice on their work and more self-determination to get back to play, demonstrated mood alterations.
