Purpose: The study purpose was determined differences in speed, acceleration, agility, and leg muscle power in female futsal and football players.
Methods: This study was used a quantitative approach with an analytical observational research design that compares two groups. The research sample consisted of 40 female players (20 female futsal players and 20 female football players). Data were collected by tests of speed, acceleration, agility, and leg muscle power. Each subject underwent tests which included the 30m speed test, 20m sprint test, Illinois agility test, and vertical jump test. The data from the best test results then analyzed by independent t test at a significance of 0.05 using SPSS 16.
Results: There are differences in speed, acceleration, agility, and leg muscle power in female futsal and football players with tcount > ttable and sig < 0.05. Female futsal players were better in speed, acceleration, and agility abilities (5.63±0.17, 3.76±0.21, 19.90±0.71 seconds for female futsal players; 6.06±0.51, 4.23±0.14, 20.78±0.48 seconds for female football players). Female football players had better leg muscle power (70.40±15.75 cm for female football players; 50.45±11.97 cm for female futsal players). Conclusions: This study can be concluded that speed, acceleration, and agility are characteristics of futsal, while leg muscle power is characteristic of football.
