the propose was to determine if the relives pitchers of the Cuba’s 44 National Series of Baseball showed inferior acting indexes to the openers, and if the motivationals and personality qualities are associated to performance of openers and relives pitchers. Indicators of the activity’s product were studied as well as personality and motivational tests were applied to a sample of openers and relives pitchers belonging to provincial teams that integrated the mentioned National Series. It was carried out a consistency analysis of the competitive’s performance coefficients as much as the results of the applied psychological tests were analyzed. Differences between medias and ANOVA. All of them contained in windows STATISTICA package of programs. It was verified that the relived pitchers showed inferior performance indicators, but not significant differences between them and the openers pitchers were observed regarding neuroticism, anxiety (stroke and state) and introversion-extroversion. Significant differences related with motivational qualities were observed between both kind of pitchers and among pitchers of the same type with different effectiveness coefficient under pressure. However, it is not considered that such differences justify the limited use of the relives pitchers made by team managers.
