IDENTIFICATION WITH PHYSICAL EXERCISE AND SELF-EFFICACY: DIFFERENCES BETWEEN PRACTIONERS OF PILATES VS NON-PRACTITIONERS

The main objective of this study was to analyze the differences in the levels of identification with the physical exercise among participants in a program of physical activity and/or Pilates, participants of other sports and sedentary people. In addition, the levels of self-efficacy in each of the groups studied were valued. It was carried out a longitudinal work with a design pre-test post-test, consisting of 93 participants with an average age of 41.14 years (DT = 11.60). Statistically significant results showed that there are differences between groups, showing worst levels of identification with the physical exercise and self-efficacy in sedentary participants. In conclusion, it can be said that Pilates practitioners had higher levels of identification that the active group not Pilates and the sedentary group. It was also noted that sedentary subjects recorded lower scores of self-efficacy than active groups and that the trait variables analyzed did not change significantly after six months of study.
