Sport psychology has been primarily focused on elite sport, often overlooking interventions in developmental sport. This study compared the level of psychological skills in youth athletes before and after the implementation of an intervention program based on cognitive-behavioral therapy strategies. A pre-experimental pretest– posttest design was used, with a descriptive-comparative scope and a non-probabilistic intentional sample, involving 88 youth athletes aged between 11 and 17 years. The Psychological Performance Inventory (PPI) was applied to measure psychological skills. The intervention program was implemented using the Training Model in Psychological Skills and cognitive-behavioral therapy. After the intervention, statistically significant differences were found in the seven skills assessed, with small effect sizes but showing consistent slight improvements. These findings highlight the importance of psychological training during sports development stages and demonstrate the effectiveness of the techniques applied in psychological interventions with youth athletes.
