Physical activity (PA) has been the subject of many studies, evaluating its effects on mental health (MH). Based on the available evidence, it is essential to understand the true impact of PA on SM. Although numerous studies have been carried out investigating the relationship between PA and SM, many of them have not reached definitive conclusions, which makes it necessary to continue research in this field. This article is a systematic review evaluating quality of life. 91 articles were selected and analyzed, identifying multiple advantages of physical and mental activities. In addition, positive and negative effects were evaluated, assigning them appropriate test levels. For the most part, the results obtained indicate that the impact of PA on SM tends to be more positive, and this is supported by a significant level of evidence. The studies reviewed show a direct correlation between stress and anxiety levels in the population groups examined and their physical activity and exercise habits. These results indicate that PA can be an effective treatment for mental illness. An inversely proportional relationship is clearly shown between physical activity and anxiety and stress, highlighting the reduction of the latter as a direct result of the regular practice of PA.
