The present article describes the problem present in the Venezuelan population related with behavioral patterns (habits) that are gradually affecting the health of the individuals. It starts with a historical review of physical education since its inclusion in the education system, and continues with the transformations it has gone through until the actual days. The policy in place in the education system is explained in relationship with physical education and physical activity for health. It presents the program that the government is coordinating with the purpose to create conscience towards the importance of physical activity to fight against sedentary life style, the pandemic of this century. It highlights the current practices related with educational practices in conjunction with physical education and health. Finally it describes actual innovative practices being implemented at schools and communities in order to acquire habits for healthy behaviors and patterns KEYWORDS: Education, health, physical
