Background: Hearing loss is highly prevalent among older adults and is associated with cognitive decline, social isolation, and reduced quality of life. Cochlear implantation (CI) is increasingly utilized as an intervention for severe-to-profound hearing loss in this population. This review systematically examines outcomes related to auditory function, cognitive performance, and quality of life after CI in older adults. Objectives: To synthesize and critically evaluate empirical evidence regarding the efficacy, cognitive benefits, safety, and psychosocial outcomes of cochlear implantation in individuals aged 60 years and older.
